Each year, Bogforum awards the prize for the best literary debut. Since 1993, the prize has been an integral part of Denmark’s largest book festival at Bella Center, where authors, publishers and passionate readers come together.

With the prize, Bogforum seeks to highlight strong new voices in Danish literature. In addition to a financial grant of DKK 50,000 to support the continuation of the author’s work, the prize also brings increased visibility from the press, booksellers and readers, helping promising literary careers move forward.

Christine Kærulv wins Bogforum’s Debutant Prize 2025

At Bogforum 2025, the year’s literary debut was celebrated when Christine Kærulv received Bogforum’s Debutant Prize for her poetry collection Motherlode.

The prize, awarded at the opening of the festival by the Minister of Culture and the chair of the jury, honours a strong and original new voice in Danish literature and brings additional attention to a work that has attracted acclaim for its linguistic alertness and sharp perspective on human conditions in a digital age.
